ASQ certification is a formal recognition by ASQ that an individual has demonstrated a proficiency within, and comprehension of, a specific body of knowledge. Nearly 150,000 certifications have been issued to dedicated professionals worldwide.
Invest in your career and your future with an ASQ certification. Gain an advantage over your competition and increase your potential for a higher salary.
See the Certification section of the national ASQ site, asg.org, for the list of available Certifications, information on and links to apply, exam dates, and other details.
Beginning with the October 2016 exam window (Sept 1 – Oct 15), all exams are offered via Computer-Based Testing (CBT) rather than the previous paper and pencil method. Candidates take the ASQ Certification exams at a Prometric testing facility where the test is delivered via a computer in a Prometric proctored, secure environment.
ASQ moved from pencil & paper exams to CBTs to realize the following member benefits:
- An increase in annual exam administrations from two to six
- The availability of days in which to take the exams, increasing from four per year to 102
- The convenience of retesting, reducing time from 6 months to 2
- An increased number of testing locations, from 350 to 8,000
- Faster test results, from 10 days to 0-4
Apply for your Certification exam through the ASQ site. After being approved for ASQ Certification testing, you will receive instructions to schedule your exam at the nearest Prometric Testing Center.
There are two ways to recertify:
Recertification Journal: Obtain a minimum of 18 recertification units during your three-year certification period. Document them in your recertification journal.
Examination: Sit for the exam. (Required if your certification expired and is past the six-month grace period.)
To recertify by journal, you can either compile your journal in print or electronic format.
To recertify by journal online, go to https://asq.org/cert/myru. At this location, you can upload your documentation and submit directly to ASQ Headquarters for recertification.
To recertify by journal manually, contact Michael Anthony, Re-certification Chair, at [email protected]. Ensure you are using the current revision of the recertification journal. Michael will ensure your Recertification Journal is in order before forwarding your request to ASQ Headquarters.
If you wish to synchronize any of your certifications, please send in your recertification journal, with appropriate documentation, to Michael Anthony or to the ASQ recertification coordinator. You will not be able to use the online journal to synchronize.
To learn more about Recertification please go to the ASQ Recertification page.

- Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence
- Master Black Belt
- Pharmaceutical GMP Professional
