Job Description

Position is responsible for the implementation, audit, and continuous improvement of company Quality Management Systems (QMS). Develop and maintain gap analysis, root cause identification, and corrective action generation tools and processes. Develop and/or review work instructions, policies and procedures for all functional areas of the company to ensure compliance with pertinent ISO (or other) standards. Responsible for ensuring Gear Calibration Operations are in compliance with ISO 17025 and A2LA requirements. Minimal travel associated with this position. Must be a US citizen.

Relocation is not available for this position.

Required Skills

  • Internal expert on all facets of ISO and other pertinent certification requirements, including standards interpretation, company policy adherence to standards and internal and external audit administration.
  • Continuously monitor company policies and procedures to improve overall quality of company products and services to ensure customer expectations are exceeded and competitive advantage is maintained.
  • Serves as the management representative for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 17025. Maintains the OSAR (Operating Systems Action Report) system as the primary means of identifying opportunities for improvement in company processes and driving cross-functional teams to implementing corrective actions.
  • Provide oversight to ITL (Issue Tracking Log) system to ensure consistent use of the system for reporting and resolving specific problems in all functional areas.
  • Utilize the lean manufacturing concepts (primarily through the use of kaizen improvement techniques) to assist manufacturing and assembly operations in driving process improvements.
  • Assist Supply Chain with identification and root cause analysis of non-conforming materials via ITL and supplier OSAR system to improve overall supplier quality.
  • Work closely with field service department to monitor and reduce the cost of poor quality related to installation and warranty.
  • Work closely with production department to monitor and reduce the cost of poor quality related to scrap and rework
  • Works closely with engineering department to ensure that product design and development processes are adhered to and facilitate continuous improvement utilizing the OSAR system
  • Responsible for identifying significant environmental aspects and impacts and for ensuring that they are monitored through the course of the year (ISO 14001).
  • Responsible for Management Systems Review presentations and representing Gleason Metrology Systems at Gleason Global Quality Summits.
  • Responsible for tracking VOC (Voice of Customer) to be used to improve products and / or processes using the customer OSAR process.

Required Experience

  • Four year engineering degree (electrical, mechanical, process or quality engineering) required; or commensurate business degree
  • Minimum of 3 years quality management experience required
  • Two years of experience with manufacturing processes including machining, grinding and/or assembly in a high precision environment required.
  • Understanding of metrology principles and gear technology preferred
  • Ability to execute action plans
  • Ability to prepare and present quality systems data and process changes to cross-functional teams and management
  • Must be a US Citizen
