Undergraduate Scholarships

Update:  Our annual scholarship dinner took place on April 21, 2016.

ASQ Dayton is proud to offer scholarships for students in the Greater Dayton Area.

To apply for  these scholarships, complete the application below and send it along with the required documentation to your listed school representative by 12:00 noon on Friday, February 29, 2016.

You must provide a transcript from your most recent semester completed.

Application attachments / information required:

  • Transcript showing courses, titles, and grades with current cumulative GPA and total credit hours noted in the application form
  • List of honors and honorary societies
  • List of the quality-related courses, seminars, or workshops you have completed
  • Employment Record or Resume: List employment for past three years – emphasize employment related to quality. If you have not held employment, please be sure to emphasize educational experience as it relates to quality
  • Extra Curricular Activities
  • Two letters of reference
  • “Biographical Sketch” (Brief applicant background to be attached)
  • Two Essays – Both essays should show clear links between quality concepts and your past, present, and  future work experiences.  The ideas should be expressed in your own words.  The essays must be typed.
    1. An essay titled “How Quality Relates and Applies to My Chosen Career Field” in at least 300 words. (To be attached)
    2. An essay titled “How I Plan To Apply Quality Concepts in the Future” in at least 300 words. (To be attached)

Selection Process

Selection will be made by three judges selected from the Dayton Section of ASQ.  The criteria for evaluation and selection includes the following:

1. Career plans as indicated in the essays: “How Quality Relates and Applies to My Chosen Career Field” and ‘How I Plan to Apply Quality Concepts in the Future’ that indicate the applicant’s desire to apply quality concepts to improve operations/processes in his/her chosen field.
2. Knowledge and depth of the understanding of quality as demonstrated in the essays.
3. The individual’s ability and intention to contribute to the quality culture as indicated in the essays.
4. Academic accomplishments or educational experience related to quality (courses, seminars, ASQ meetings).
5. Employment experience related to quality.
6. Extracurricular activities and other accomplishments as described.

Note: The criteria are not listed in order of importance.

Award Presentation

The awards are presented to recipients at a Dayton ASQ Section Meeting this Spring.  Timing and location to be determined and announced.  The Dayton Section of ASQ will award up to $2,000.00 in scholarships among multiple recipients.

You do not have to be an ASQ student member to apply.
